Four my A2 media coursework i have decided to chose question 9. To make a new TV channel together with an animated ident sequence for the channel and a news paper advertisement for the channel for promotion.

What is an ident?
An ident is a television identification symbol, or 'ident'for short, its the bit of video which tells you what channel you're on, played for few seconds before a programme commences. Also when it ends. On BBC 1, initially just called BBC, this started out, among other things, as a revolving globe , reinforcing the global nature of the BBC, that if nation shall not speak unto nation for whatever reason, then at least it could broadcast unto nation. And if it shall be broadcast into those homes lucky enough to have a TV, then those households being broadcast into should know what channel is being broadcast unto them. Hence the existence of the 'ident', telling you which channel you're on before a programme starts.

Here i have started looking at all the BBC's idents that they have had here are a few in the link i have posted. the ident would be the hardest thing so i should start it first and get he idea to form my website around it.

Below i have researched websites such as the BBC, MTV, SKY PORTS and E4. I need to research to find out what type of website i would want for my a NEW TV channel.
I need to determine;

• What genera
• what i would base it on
• How to structure
• Colour scheme
• Who my target audience are
• Will i specialise or be general
• If i would have roll over images, videos or scroll over images
• Have a personalisation button, to suit my target audiences needs.

Here are a few websites that i have analysed in detail.

BBC home page:

This pop up tab allows the viewers to personalise there weather, TV, and radio selections depending on where they live. This would be a great opportunity for me to get more involved with my target audience, so they feel catered for and respected, it would also mean they are more comfortable with the settings and it could become the social place to be if i make it just right.
